IOT devices – kitchen equipment.

A friend just had their kitchen replaced and now has an internet enabled extractor fan.

Not really, as you spend hours reconnecting the devices when they drop out or when the router changes.

I didn’t know that there is a line drawn across the country and if you are north, then smart meters use one technology and
if you are below, they use another.

In the Midlands, Wales and southern England, all meters use cellular technology - similar to mobile phones - to send data
to energy providers.

But in northern England and Scotland, meters instead rely on longer-range radio frequencies.

The meters may be called smart, but the industry doesn’t seem particularly clever.
