With Microsoft Office, whichever route you follow, decide what packages are important to you. If you need a
good desktop publisher, then you will have to look at the Professional version or above, of Office. If it is basic
word processing and spreadsheets, then look no further than the home of student versions which come much
cheaper.

Microsoft is not the only route and there are some extremely powerful and FREE packages available to you
which will cover all the bases that most home users will need. With packages like Open Office, Libra Office
and Only Office available, the choice is big.

With each of the above free open-source packages, there are regular updates and they offer pretty much eve-
rything you would want for home or even business use. Both are very impressive and I would personally, rec-
ommend that even if you do run Microsoft office on your computer, have a backup suite just in case.
