Over the years, through various methods, I have converted a large amount of my extensive media collection to digital
format. The first steps in reducing space – BUT!
Am I going to get rid of my vinyl collection or even CDs. Not if I can help it. However, this makes it easier to access
albeit takes a long time to do the converting in the first place.
You can also access a lot of content from the internet and it is not all illegal.
The Internet Archive is a huge source of free music, films and tv shows that are not copywrite
Looking in the films section, there are loads of older films readily available to download and view at your pleasure.
Films from the old Ealing Studios of the 40’s and 50’s, some absolute gems are available and in very watchable condi-
tion.
There is a raft of programmes that will play media on your computer and they do a great job. But let’s look at what a
home media player can offer you.
If you want to take advantage of your new 55” 4K television and your own HiFi system this is an alternative route that
you may want to take.
My first media player was bought around 12 years ago definitely when good internet streaming was in its infancy.
