As you can see from the slide above home media has developed over the last 160 years from the gramophone with a huge
earpiece speaker to internet streaming that became generally available around 2010 when internet download speeds started
to increase.
Streaming has had a huge impact on media users and many media formats such as cassettes, reel to reel tape recorders and
video recorders were phased out.
Commercial audio streaming has taken off in a huge way and for a reasonable monthly fee, you can stream from a mas-
sive library of music to cater for all tastes.
