 Like video, there are many standards
 Wikipedia lists 65 of them!
 Many of them are specialised or single purpose, e.g.
Skype SILK, most of the G.7xx – designed for VOIP
 Usual Apple (ALAC) and Microsoft (WMA) own
formats

Lossy Audio formats

 The most common ones are:-
 MP3 – most common
 AAC – Apple
 Ogg Vorbis – open source
