POP delivers the email to the client’s device and does not retain it on the Server.






























            With IMAP, the email can be sent to multiple devices and is retained on the Server.



            As with everything, there are Pro’s and Con’s to be considered.


            Storing your emails on the ISP Server is fine -but they do offer a finite limit and could be deleted if there is a
            spring clean for example. If your emails are important to you, it is wise to store them on your own back up
            system. This procedure is probably different for each client software, so check how to do it on your own client
            – Google offers all the advice you need.
